What’s better than a second dinner of Peking duck and fried rice after a day of eating, drinking, and unwrapping? Whether or not you’re celebrating the holiday, here are 12 Phoenix-area Chinese restaurants open on Christmas Day for takeout (and one for dine-in).
Old Town Taste
1845 East Broadway Road, Tempe
Old Town Taste, one of our Top 100 restaurants, is open on Christmas Day. Inside the entryway under the bright-red neon sign, owners Xiohan Xu and Zuhao Wang and Chefs Qifu Chen and Jie Yu will be serving their usual Sichuan cuisine. The restaurant is open from 11:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. and again from 5 to 9:30 p.m. for takeout only.
China Village
2710 East Indian School Road
China Village in central Phoenix is always a solid option for Christmas dining. This friendly, old-school spot serves a menu that spans Hunan, Mandarin, and Szechuan cuisines. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for takeout only.
Golden Dragon Restaurant
5920 West Greenway Road, Glendale
This extra-casual, diner-style Chinese restaurant in the west Valley is known for its crispy duck, chicken with garlic sauce, sizzling rice soup, and friendly service. Golden Dragon Restaurant is open on Christmas Day from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for takeout only.
Dragon Wok Fine Chinese Restaurant
727 West Ray Road, #B1, Gilbert
Dragon Wok Fine Chinese Restaurant serves appetizer-style rolls of all kinds, soup, and specialties like the Phoenix & Dragon entree. Those and plenty of traditional Chinese favorites (like lemon chicken or cashew shrimp). The restaurant hours are noon to 8 p.m. for takeout only.
Hong Kong Asian Diner
9880 South Rural Road, Tempe
The family-owned and -operated Hong Kong Asian Diner in Tempe serves expertly executed Cantonese cuisine. Whatever you do, don’t skip the Peking duck, which comes with a plate of “crisp duck skin surrounded by a crown of pillowy white buns.” The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for takeout only.
China Chili
302 East Flower Street
For central Phoenicians, China Chili is probably your go-to restaurant for Chinese takeout and a nontraditional Christmas meal. As a result, you may find the place busy on the holiday, but dishes such as yu shiang chicken and salt-and-pepper pork chops may be worth the wait. Operating hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for takeout only.
Dragon Express
1125 West Baseline Road, Mesa
This Mesa go-to has more of a fast-food vibe than some of the others in terms of restaurant size and style, but the food is still quality. Dragon Express is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. for takeout, with a few tables for dine-in on Christmas Day.

Nee House Chinese Restaurant is for the adventurous.

13843 North Tatum Boulevard
Located in north Phoenix, Nee House serves some of the freshest tasting seafood dishes in town. How do we know? Because your meal was probably swimming in a tank in the restaurant right before you ordered it. The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. for takeout only.
Jade Palace
9160 East Shea Boulevard, Scottsdale
8876 East Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale
This popular Christmas Day dining option is usually booked for the big day, but as with everything 2020, things will be a little different. However, Jade Palace is still making Hunan beef, crab puffs, and Szechuan garlic chicken on Christmas proper. Both the Shea Boulevard location (in the Courtyard Shops) and the Pinnacle Peak Road spot (in the La Mirada Shopping Center) will be open from noon to 8 p.m. for takeout only.

West Valley eaters are probably already fans of this Chinese Christmas go-to. Best China will be serving its Cantonese and Mandarin fare, which includes everything from lo mein to seafood to moo shu, on the holiday. Hours are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. for takeout only.
